Early Childhood classes at STAGES foster creativity and expression, promote language development and encourage social, physical and emotional growth. These developmentally appropriate experiences allow your child to learn through the arts and provide a welcome and inviting introduction to their later learning experiences in school.

Broadway Babies*

Introduce your budding star to the fun of musical theatre! This active class will use a variety of age-appropriate songs to introduce children to the musical theatre arts of singing, dancing and acting as they develop listening skills and learn to work as an ensemble.

Sounds of the Sea

Classic Tales

Acting

The Acting curriculum at STAGES develops creative and well-rounded performers who maximize their physical, vocal and creative potential. As students move through advancing levels, an equal emphasis is also placed on analysis of the craft of acting as well as theatrical literature.

Imagination Theatre

Improvisation

    Pre-Professional Class

Advanced Scene Study

(Prerequisite: Audition or Director’s consent) This class will challenge experienced performers with complex scenes—starting with contemporary realistic pieces and then moving into scenes from various styles in theatre history—while refining acting vocabulary and performance abilities. Students’ acting instincts will be put to the test and expanded by work with two professional actor/directors. Characters, relationships, choices—these elements serve as the basis of this important class, essential for any performer looking to move on to the college and professional ranks.

Dance

In programming for older elementary and middle school-aged students, STAGES provides young people a fun and nurturing environment to grow their interest in the performing arts. Through these daytime workshops and evening classes, performers have a chance to learn musical theatre technique while also gaining valuable exposure to important influences in the history of musical theatre.

The dance curriculum at STAGES is designed so that within each listed age grouping, students are placed according to level. Prior experience and assessment by instructor will be used in placement.

Learn what it takes to turn in a crack audition! You’ll have the chance to work intensively with Broadway veteran and STAGES Managing Director Ron Gibbs, as well as STAGES Music Supervisor Lisa Campbell-Albert as you study audition etiquette, material selection and performance choices within an audition.
