ACT

The Acting curriculum at STAGES develops creative and

well-rounded performers who maximize their physical, vocal and creative potential. As students move through advancing levels, an equal emphasis is also placed on analysis of the craft
of acting as well as theatrical literature.

Imagination Theatre : $240.00

Students will use their imaginations and physicality to recreate stories, both familiar and new, while learning the basic elements of theatre. Simple props and costume pieces will be added to the mix to complete the imaginary transformation. Be sure to sign up your budding star for a fun introduction to performing!

Come learn acting as you create characters and develop imaginary relationships in a fun, creative environment. Through class projects you’ll develop an expressive voice and body while discovering the actor’s process.

Improvisation: $250.00

Give your imagination a blast of spontaneity as you focus on your ability to react and listen truthfully and explore the physical and vocal creation of character. A fun and funny course, improvisation requires quick thinking, strong choices, and full involvement—important skills for any actor.

NEW! Writing/Directing Studio: $250.00

This class is designed for students who want to continue their theatre training by exploring the behind-the-scenes disciplines of directing and writing.  Students will learn how to interpret stories for the stage by using improvisation to explore the principles of character development, the arc of a story and how to communicate through stage pictures.  All students will gain experience with both writing and directing, as well as take on the task of acting in improv pieces created by fellow students.

Dr. Seuss on the Loose!:$350.00
(Prerequisite: two sessions of Acting courses or Director’s consent)

Meet the Seven Lady Godivas and the Wockets, as well as old friends Cat in the Hat, Horton and many other zany characters as students bring the works of Dr. Seuss to life! We’ll use our previous acting experience as a tool to develop these fantastical characters and create an original performance piece based on our favorite Seuss stories.

Mysteries of Theatre: $350.00

Let’s solve a mystery! Students will put their acting skills to the test in this unique experience which uses the mystery genre to help actors create characters and complex story lines. Students will develop a mystery plot and characters and then, for the final showcase, will perform for an audience and involve them in their interactive whodunit adventure!

NEW! SIX-WEEK MINI CLASSES FOR TEENS
Audition: Cold Readings: $140.00
(Prerequisite: two sessions of Acting courses or Director’s consent)

Cold readings can be nerve wracking...but they don’t have to be. This class will cover the acting techniques that will strengthen your skill in picking up an unfamiliar scene and making quick and dramatic audition choices for the stage.

Camera Commercial Intensive: $140.00

Kate Frisina turns her coast-to-coast experience into a unique learning opportunity designed to teach valuable on-camera commercial acting skills. This course will cover on-camera technique, reading and interpreting commercial copy, learning to translate stage skills into camera skills, and auditioning with confidence to land the roles you want!

Dance classes at STAGES provide students well-rounded training through progressing levels of the traditional disciplines as well as specialized musical theatre styles classes. While establishing a fun and encouraging class environment, teachers emphasize proper physical technique and vocabulary—essentials for any level of performer.

In this new class, young dancers will learn fundamental steps and have the opportunity to learn choreography to popular children’s musicals. The perfect way to prepare for further dance study or just have fun learning skills for that next performance opportunity!

You’ll get your feet tappin’ as you study and refine the fundamentals of tap dance and the rhythms your body can make! Focus will be placed on the students’ knowledge of tap vocabulary and the proper execution of each tap step and combination taught.
